
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been active in addressing high-profile fraud cases across Nigeria. In recent actions, the EFCC arrested a former aviation minister, Sirika, over an alleged N8 billion fraud linked to Nigeria Air. Additionally, the EFCC filed fresh charges at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory against the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, accusing him of printing N684.5 million worth of notes using N18.9 billion. In a separate case, a Limpopo Home Affairs official was sentenced to 8 years in jail for fraudulently issuing a birth certificate, and a senior official in the Eastern Cape Department of Health was also arrested for fraud.
