In a series of legal actions across different jurisdictions, individuals have been sentenced to prison for crimes ranging from fraud to murder. A trio was sentenced to eight to 15 years in prison for laundering proceeds of a telephone scam. In a notable case, former Riruta MCA Samuel Ndung'u Njoroge and two others were sentenced to 30 years in prison each for the sexual assault and murder of his wife, Lucy Njambi, on the 24th of January, 2018. The conviction, leading to a total of 90 years in jail for the trio, was notably supported by phone data and M-Pesa statements. Additionally, a Queens man was sentenced to five years in prison for a multimillion-dollar bank fraud and money laundering scheme. Another individual involved in romance scams targeting elderly Arizonans received a prison sentence, and a man responsible for three St. Louis area robberies was sentenced to 129 months in prison.
