Study in Nature Human Behaviour Finds GPT-4 More Persuasive Than Humans 64.4% of Time With Personalization

A recent study published in Nature Human Behaviour reveals that AI systems, specifically GPT-4, can outperform humans in persuasive debates when provided with basic sociodemographic information. Researchers from EPFL, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, and Princeton University found that GPT-4 was more persuasive than humans 64.4% of the time. The findings highlight the potential risks of personalization in AI, especially when combined with anthropomorphic features. This research raises important considerations regarding the influence of AI in decision-making processes.
