Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) has acquired Enosemi, a silicon photonics startup specializing in custom materials for silicon photonics product development. The acquisition, announced on May 28, 2025, aims to enhance AMD's capabilities in co-packaged optics and silicon photonics to support next-generation data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) processing. This move is part of AMD's broader strategy to strengthen its full-stack AI offerings across compute, networking, and systems, positioning the company to compete more effectively with rivals such as Nvidia. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Separately, EssilorLuxottica announced plans to acquire Optegra clinics to expand its presence in the European eye care market and advance its medical AI initiatives.
