Colombian playmaker Juan Fernando Quintero has reached an agreement to rejoin River Plate after negotiating an early exit from América de Cali, according to multiple reports late Tuesday. Quintero, 32, is expected to sign an 18-month loan contract with the Buenos Aires club once he completes medical checks this week. América consented to terminate his deal, which ran to 2027, after struggling to meet salary commitments. The move marks Quintero’s third spell at River, where he scored the decisive goal in the 2018 Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors. River coach Marcelo Gallardo, who managed the midfielder in his previous stint, was described as instrumental in securing the return.
