A new phishing campaign, dubbed the Horns&Hooves campaign, has been identified as using corrupted Microsoft Word files and fake emails to target over 1,000 victims. The attackers deploy remote access trojans (RATs) such as NetSupport RAT and BurnsRAT, which pose significant risks of data theft and ransomware. These malicious emails are disguised as legitimate customer requests, successfully bypassing antivirus and spam filters. In addition, the SmokeLoader malware has resurfaced, specifically targeting the manufacturing and IT sectors in Taiwan, further complicating the cybersecurity landscape. This series of attacks highlights the growing sophistication of cyber threats and the need for enhanced security measures.
