
Indonesian Crypto Exchange Indodax Loses $22M in Major Hack, North Korea's Lazarus Group Suspected
Indonesian crypto exchange Indodax suffered a major security breach on September 10, 2024, resulting in the theft of approximately $22 million worth of various cryptocurrencies. The hack targeted Indodax's hot wallets, affecting multiple blockchains including Ethereum, Tron, and Bitcoin. The stolen assets included 6.14 million USDT, 1,074 ETH worth $2.48 million, 25 BTC worth $1.44 million, and 2.2 million MATIC worth $850,000. Indodax has temporarily suspended its operations and taken its web and mobile applications offline as the investigation continues. Security firms such as Cyvers and PeckShield have detected over 150 suspicious transactions related to the hack. There are suspicions that the attack may be linked to North Korea's Lazarus Group. The hacker's methodical approach resulted in the theft of 14.4 million USD.
