The Philippines has announced a ban on all Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) due to links to serious crimes. President Marcos has instructed the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to cease all POGO operations by the end of the year. This ban affects approximately 40,000 local workers who are now displaced. PAGCOR chief Al Tengco noted that the offshore gaming operations inside the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority are the only complication in this ban. PAGCOR has also dismissed a fake memo instructing local government units to immediately terminate POGO operations.
