Australia's ANZ Group Holdings mistakenly informed some of its employees about their redundancies through an automated email instructing them to return company laptops before official communication of job losses. This error forced the bank to accelerate its planned layoffs. In response, ANZ issued an apology and offered psychological counselling to more than 100 senior bankers affected by the premature notification. The incident has drawn attention to the bank's internal communication practices. Separately, ANZ has announced potential pay cuts for employees who work from home more than half of the working week as part of CEO Nuno Matos's efforts to overhaul the lender's operations.
