Australia's ASX shares slide as regulator launches probe into 'serious failures' https://t.co/UlAxHrmYhy https://t.co/UlAxHrmYhy
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has opened a formal investigation into ASX Ltd., citing a series of “serious and repeated” technical failures that disrupted trading on the country’s main exchange. ASIC said the inquiry will focus on whether broader governance and operational shortcomings contributed to the outages. The regulator signalled that the scope of the probe could widen if additional issues affecting market stability are uncovered. Investors reacted to the announcement by sending ASX shares lower in early Sydney trading on 16 June, amid concerns that potential findings could lead to enforcement action or higher compliance costs for the exchange operator.
