Australia July full-time employment increased by 60,500 month on month
Australia's Wage Price Index (WPI) for the second quarter of 2025 increased by 3.4% year-on-year, slightly above the Reserve Bank of Australia's forecast of 3.3% and consistent with the previous quarter's 3.4%. On a quarterly basis, the WPI rose by 0.8%, matching expectations but slightly below the prior quarter's 0.9% increase. In July 2025, Australia's employment rose by 24,500 jobs, just under the forecast of 25,000, with full-time employment increasing by 60,500 positions following a previous decline of 38,200. Part-time employment decreased by 35,900 jobs compared to a prior increase of 40,200. The unemployment rate held steady at 4.2%, in line with estimates and down from 4.3% previously. The participation rate was recorded at 67.0%, marginally below the expected 67.1% and unchanged from the previous month.
