In a series of significant data breaches, millions of users' personal information has been exposed. A record-breaking leak has resulted in 10 billion stolen passwords being shared online. In the United States, data from 442,519 Life360 users, including email addresses, names, and phone numbers, was compromised in March 2024 due to a misconfigured API. Additionally, over 15 million email addresses associated with Atlassian's Trello were exposed and found for sale on a hacking forum. In Australia, a cyber attack on MediSecure, an electronic prescriptions provider, in April 2024 resulted in the theft of personal data from 12.9 million individuals, affecting nearly half of the country's population. The stolen data includes sensitive health information, and some of it has been uploaded to the dark web.
