
Hyundai Motor Company reported a decline in operating profit for the fiscal year 2024, totaling ₩14.24 trillion, a decrease of 5.9% compared to the previous year. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the automaker's operating profit was ₩2.82 trillion, falling short of analysts' expectations of ₩3.41 trillion. Net profit for the quarter also missed estimates, coming in at ₩2.28 trillion against an expected ₩3.04 trillion. However, Hyundai's sales reached a record high of ₩46.62 trillion, exceeding the forecast of ₩44.74 trillion. Meanwhile, LG Electronics achieved its highest-ever annual revenue, driven by nine consecutive years of growth in its home appliances and automotive electronics sectors, despite reporting a net loss in the fourth quarter. LG's home entertainment operating profit was ₩37.3 billion, while it faced a loss of ₩117.3 billion in its home appliance division. Revenue for home appliances was ₩7.42 trillion, surpassing estimates of ₩7.05 trillion, while home entertainment revenue was ₩4.37 trillion, slightly below the expected ₩4.42 trillion.
