PACCAR Inc. posted second-quarter net income of $723.8 million, or $1.37 per diluted share, beating the consensus estimate of $1.28. Revenue came in at $7.51 billion, topping analysts’ projection of $7.03 billion, supported by demand for the company’s Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF trucks. Despite the earnings beat, sales were 14 percent lower than the $8.77 billion recorded a year earlier as last year’s heavy-duty order cycle began to normalize. The Bellevue, Washington-based manufacturer delivered 39,300 trucks globally during the quarter, and said profitability benefited from ongoing cost controls and a favorable mix of higher-margin vehicles.
