Change Healthcare has announced that it will begin notifying a substantial portion of Americans that their private information was compromised in a recent cyberattack. The compromised data includes Social Security numbers, medical diagnoses, prescriptions, and payment card information. Notifications to healthcare providers will start today, with patient notifications beginning in late July. The cyberattack had previously disrupted portions of the U.S. healthcare system. Change Healthcare has also provided a HIPAA Media Notice regarding the breach.
