AlchemyPlatform has announced its partnership with Rootstock, marking its first venture into the Bitcoin layer-2 space. This collaboration aims to integrate decentralized finance (DeFi) capabilities on the Bitcoin network by enabling the creation of EVM-compatible smart contracts and DeFi applications. The Rootstock platform, which has been in development since 2015, combines Bitcoin's security and liquidity with the flexibility of Ethereum. In a related development, the Bitcoin layer-2 project, Build on Bob, has also integrated with the Superchain ecosystem built on Optimism’s OP Stack, becoming the first Bitcoin layer-2 to join this network.
