Celo is transitioning from a Layer 1 (L1) blockchain to a Layer 2 (L2) solution on the Ethereum network, marking a pivotal moment in Ethereum's rollup-centric roadmap. This shift aims to enhance global adoption of Celo, with EigenDA playing a crucial role in powering the platform. Meanwhile, the MegaETH public testnet has been introduced, showcasing impressive capabilities with a throughput of 20,000 transactions per second (tps) and block times of 10 milliseconds. Early users have reported a significantly improved user experience, describing it as 'instant' and 'real-time.' There are plans to further increase throughput to between 50,000 and 100,000 tps for the mainnet, indicating a clear execution roadmap beyond theoretical performance. This development is seen as a major breakthrough in Layer 2 solutions for Ethereum, with potential benefits for the broader ecosystem.
The 1st big breakthrough in L2s Need megaeth to save eth so we can all flourish in the glorious golden bull run It's trendy to hate eth but I think there's a lot to be optimistic abt: - Pectra / no more token approval double signatures - Interop - megaeth real time blockchains https://t.co/RNXvC09A5e
This is huge, but importantly, 20k tps is just the start. There's a clear execution roadmap (not research) to hit 50-100k tps for mainnet. Try out apps like @Euphoria_fi on testnet to experience the first real time blockchain. Once you do, it's hard to go back to anything else. https://t.co/i5iJxHNURd
So MegaETH is stupid fast I've been playing around with Noise...and it doesn't even feel like using a chain. Instant/real-time snappiness... This is a gigantic UX improvement (assuming it stays stable). ETH really might have a comeback
