Mt. Gox has moved 96,396 Bitcoin tokens to three unidentified addresses, causing concerns about a potential selloff. One of these addresses, believed to be associated with the crypto exchange Kraken, received 48,641 BTC worth $3.10 billion. This transaction is part of the ongoing repayment process to Mt. Gox creditors. As of July 16, 2024, the trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi confirmed that BTC and BCH have been repaid to over 13,000 creditors through designated cryptocurrency trading platforms. Currently, 36% of Mt. Gox's Bitcoin holdings have been distributed, with more repayments expected once conditions are met. Mt. Gox is now holding 90.3k BTC.
It is time for Kraken to start repaying Mt. Gox Creditors (48.6k BTC) and for Mt. Gox to distribute the 90k BTC they have in their addresses. The earlier Mt. Gox is gone the better
