Solana processed a record 107,664 transactions per second on its mainnet on Aug. 17, the highest throughput yet recorded by a public blockchain and the first time a major chain has broken the 100,000-TPS threshold. On-chain statistics and data shared by Helius co-founder Mert Mumtaz showed a separate measurement of 107,540 TPS in the same time frame. Developers said the milestone was reached during a deliberate high-load stress test that submitted lightweight “noop” program calls, demonstrating Solana’s upper capacity rather than typical real-world performance. Even so, they estimate practical workloads such as transfers or oracle updates could sustain 80,000–100,000 TPS—far above Ethereum’s 12–15 TPS and well beyond Solana’s usual 1,000–3,700 TPS range. The achievement bolsters Solana’s single-chain scaling strategy as it prepares to introduce additional upgrades, including Firedancer, a Jump Crypto-built validator client that has surpassed 1.2 million TPS in testnet trials. Combined with $35 million in decentralized-application revenue over the past week—led by Axiom Exchange at $12.9 million and Pumpdotfun at $11.27 million—the performance gains add to Solana’s 22-week streak as the top-grossing Layer 1 network.
