Taiwan-based cryptocurrency exchange BitoPro disclosed a hack involving unauthorized withdrawals totaling approximately $11.5 million on May 8, 2025. The breach affected hot wallets across multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum, Tron, Solana, and Polygon, with stolen assets comprising ETH, USDT, and USDC. These funds were subsequently laundered through platforms such as ChangeNOW and Maya Protocol. The exchange took nearly three weeks to publicly acknowledge the incident. The hack corresponds to about NT$345 million in losses. This event highlights ongoing security challenges faced by crypto exchanges amid increasing cyber threats.
