Cronos, the native token of the Crypto.com-affiliated blockchain, surged to a three-year high after Trump Media & Technology Group said it will build a $6.4 billion treasury of the cryptocurrency in partnership with Crypto.com. The vehicle, dubbed Trump Media Group CRO Strategy Inc., will be seeded with 6.3 billion CRO tokens—valued at roughly $1 billion at the time of the announcement and about $1.63 billion after the market reaction—alongside $200 million in cash and $220 million in warrants. An additional $5 billion equity line of credit has been secured to finance future CRO purchases. TMTG also plans to buy $105 million worth of CRO, or about 2 percent of the token’s circulating supply, while Crypto.com has agreed to invest $50 million in TMTG common stock; both commitments are subject to lock-ups. The CRO holdings will be staked via Crypto.com’s custody platform, and the token will underpin rewards and payments across TMTG’s Truth Social network and the forthcoming Truth+ streaming service. Following the announcement, CRO jumped as much as 26 percent to nearly $0.29, extending its weekly gain to about 83 percent. Despite the rally, the token remains roughly 73 percent below its 2021 peak, underscoring the volatile recovery under way in digital-asset markets.
