An independent investigation into the Boston Public Schools (BPS) bus service has revealed critical safety failures by Transdev, the district's longtime bus contractor. The report found that Transdev failed to maintain proper tracking of safety, accident, and driver records prior to an April crash that resulted in the death of a kindergarten student. Following the release of these findings, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Superintendent Mary Skipper announced that BPS will adopt all recommendations from the investigation to improve school transportation safety. The independent review highlighted that the bus contractor's driver records were incomplete and unreliable, underscoring systemic issues in the management of school bus safety.
