Ana Lucia Galache de Souza has been sentenced to repay nearly R$ 4 million after defrauding the Brazilian Army for over 33 years by falsely claiming to be the daughter of a deceased soldier. The Superior Military Court upheld her conviction for fraud, which allowed her to receive pension payments during this extended period. In a related case, former military officer Djair Oliveira de Araújo is implicated in a broader scheme that reportedly defrauded investors, including police officers, of approximately R$ 30 million, claiming to be a financial expert. Araújo convinced clients to invest significant sums, with individual contributions reaching as high as R$ 600,000.
