Brazilian airline Azul reported its financial results for Q4 2024, achieving record revenues of R$ 5.54 billion, a 10% increase year-over-year. Operational profit grew by 40.2% to R$ 1.238 billion, while adjusted EBITDA rose 33% to R$ 1.95 billion, with a margin of 35.2%. Passenger revenue reached R$ 5.1 billion, supported by a 16.9% growth in passenger traffic and an occupancy rate of 84.2%. Despite operational gains, Azul posted a net loss of R$ 3.9 billion for the quarter, reversing a net profit of R$ 403 million in Q4 2023. Adjusted for non-recurring effects, the company recorded a net profit of R$ 62.4 million, compared to a loss of R$ 270.6 million in the same period last year. For the full year 2024, Azul reported a net loss of R$ 8.2 billion, largely due to the depreciation of the Brazilian real, which affected its balance sheet. However, it transported 30.8 million passengers during the year, a 5.4% increase over 2023, reflecting growth in air travel demand. The company remains optimistic about its future, with CEO John Rodgerson highlighting plans to strengthen its balance sheet, expand margins, and generate positive free cash flow. Azul also aims to enhance its fleet with larger, next-generation aircraft as part of its growth strategy.
