Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti published a 25-man list for the final two South American World Cup-qualifying matches against Chile on 4 September and Bolivia five days later. The Italian left out several headline names, including Neymar, Real Madrid trio Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Éder Militão, and cited fitness issues and the need to evaluate alternatives now that Brazil have already secured a place at the 2026 tournament. Midfielder Lucas Paquetá returns after a year-long absence, while full-back Caio Henrique, striker Kaio Jorge and Lille defender Alexsandro headline nine changes from Ancelotti’s previous call-up. Established regulars Alisson, Marquinhos, Casemiro and Bruno Guimarães are retained to lend experience. Brazil sit third in the 10-team CONMEBOL table on 25 points, level with Ecuador and 10 adrift of leaders Argentina. After hosting Chile at the Maracanã, the Seleção travel to El Alto’s 4,100-metre altitude to close the campaign against Bolivia, matches Ancelotti says will be used to “observe new players” before four friendly windows ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
