Juliana Soares was brutally assaulted by her boyfriend, Igor Eduardo Pereira Cabral, who struck her 61 times within 34 seconds inside an elevator in a condominium in Natal. The attack resulted in severe facial injuries, necessitating a facial reconstruction surgery that lasted over seven hours. Juliana's full recovery is expected to take at least one and a half months. Igor Cabral is currently held in preventive detention. Upon arrival at the prison, he was reportedly handcuffed, stripped naked, and placed in solitary confinement, where he was allegedly subjected to physical abuse by prison agents including punches, kicks, elbow strikes, and pepper spray to the eyes. The agents also reportedly encouraged him to commit suicide. After the surgery, Juliana Soares has been discharged from the hospital.
