Authorities across multiple regions have issued warnings about a rise in scams involving deepfake technology, fake subscription cancellations, and fraudulent text messages. These scams exploit everyday mobile phone use by sending false alerts about promotions, prizes, or toll payments to deceive users. The Missouri Department of Transportation specifically cautioned motorists about a text message scam targeting drivers. Additionally, the Brazilian Public Defender's Office (DPU) has alerted the public about frauds using its name to mislead individuals. These developments highlight the increasing sophistication of cybercriminal tactics aimed at exploiting trust in digital communications.
