The National Football League stepped up its digital outreach on 19 August, unveiling two separate media initiatives aimed at younger and more diverse audiences. YouTube named the on-air team for its first-ever exclusive NFL stream—the 5 September season-opening game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil—while the league simultaneously announced a content partnership with women-focused sports publisher The GIST. For the YouTube broadcast, veteran play-by-play announcer Rich Eisen will join Hall of Famer Kurt Warner in the booth. Content creator Donald “Deestroying” De La Haye and NFL Media reporter Stacey Dales will handle sideline duties, with Kay Adams and former league MVP Cam Newton anchoring pre- and post-game coverage alongside recently retired players Derek Carr and Tyrann Mathieu. NBC Sports will produce the feed, marking YouTube’s debut as the sole distributor of a live NFL game. Separately, the NFL’s alliance with The GIST grants the league access to the publisher’s more than 1 million newsletter subscribers and an estimated 40 million monthly sports fans, most of them millennial and Gen Z women. Amanda Kersen, the NFL’s director of business development, said the collaboration is part of the league’s effort to make football “fun, inclusive and accessible” for the next generation of supporters. The GIST will create branded games, playoff brackets and gain enhanced access to marquee events such as the Super Bowl and NFL Draft.
