Centrica and Energy Capital Partners (ECP) are in exclusive talks to acquire National Grid's LNG import terminal located in the Thames Estuary, known as the Isle of Grain terminal. The deal is valued at approximately £1.5 billion ($2 billion to $2.25 billion). This terminal is Europe's largest LNG facility and supplies up to 20% of Britain's natural gas, making it a critical energy infrastructure asset. The acquisition would give Centrica, the owner of British Gas, control over a key gateway for the UK’s gas imports. The deal has been reported by the Financial Times and confirmed by multiple sources. Additionally, recent energy data indicates that gas generated 42.8% of Great Britain's electricity, surpassing imports at 14.4%, wind at 13.3%, nuclear at 10.6%, biomass at 10.0%, and solar at 9.0%.
