Coventry City has completed the purchase of the 29,109-seat Coventry Building Society Arena from Frasers Group, securing ownership of its home ground for the first time since the stadium opened in 2005. The deal was announced on 23 August, hours before the Championship side’s fixture, and ends two decades of uncertainty that saw the club play matches at alternative venues during periods of rent disputes and administration. Owner Doug King called the agreement “a defining day” for the club, saying ownership would allow investment in facilities, fan experience and community initiatives. The transaction gives Coventry full control over match-day revenues and commercial rights, and marks a rare instance of a second-tier English club owning its stadium outright.
