Eli Lilly has temporarily paused shipments of its weight-loss drug Mounjaro to the United Kingdom, saying the measure will help manage supplies as it prepares for a sharp increase in the medicine’s list price next month. The U.S. drugmaker plans to raise the UK price of the highest dose of Mounjaro to £330 ($446) a month from £122, an increase of as much as 170%. The company said allocations are in place for pharmacies and providers to maintain patient access and prevent stockpiling. Shipments are scheduled to resume on 1 September. The price move follows pressure from Washington for drugmakers to lift European prices in order to create room for cuts in the United States. Mounjaro, based on the active ingredient tirzepatide, is approved in the UK for type-2 diabetes and weight management and has seen surging demand amid a global boom in injectable weight-loss treatments.
