A significant crackdown on cybercrime has led to the dismantling of LabHost, a major phishing operation founded in 2021, responsible for defrauding approximately 70,000 UK victims and obtaining 480,000 card numbers and 64,000 PINs globally. The operation, which was facilitated by a network of fake websites, has seen dozens of arrests, including university students involved in the scam. The Metropolitan Police, in collaboration with multiple agencies, have been actively contacting thousands of victims to mitigate the damage and protect assets. The scam site, which also provided a subscription service for fraudsters, was part of a broader trend of rising cybercrime activities.
