Man Found Guilty of Nearly £600,000 Fraud Selling Fake Scottish Tea to Luxury Hotels and Retailers

A man has been found guilty of defrauding luxury hotels and retailers out of nearly £600,000 by selling ordinary tea falsely marketed as premium Scottish-grown tea. The scam involved passing off fake Scottish tea, resulting in losses estimated at £580,000 to £600,000. This case follows other recent fraud convictions, including a machinery fraudster jailed for four years over a €120,000 deception spree and a Northern Ireland benefits cheat who received over £35,000 while spending most of the pandemic in the Philippines with a partner but avoided jail.
