A married couple, Bernard and Ann McDonagh, have been sentenced to jail for 20 months for repeatedly leaving expensive restaurants in South Wales without paying their bills. The couple, who also stole from supermarkets, used 43 fake identities, and lied about being pregnant, racked up unpaid bills totaling nearly £1,200 across five restaurants. They were caught after a social media post appealing for information about them went viral. The court ordered them to pay £2,185 in compensation. Their actions jeopardized the livelihoods of business owners already struggling financially.
