The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain affecting western parts of Scotland from Friday morning through Saturday afternoon. Up to 100mm of rain is expected to fall on the mountainous areas during this period. The rain will also extend to Northern Ireland and northern England, with heavy downpours anticipated. Thursday will start dry and bright for many in England and Wales, with warm and sunny spells, but cloud and showery rain will spread across Northern Ireland and Scotland, occasionally accompanied by thunder. Over the course of the day, cloud cover has increased across Wales and England, while Northern Ireland and Scotland have remained under thick cloud. The weather is expected to cool down over the weekend following the rain.
