Paul Gallagher, the 59-year-old elder brother of Oasis musicians Liam and Noel Gallagher, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Wednesday to face 11 criminal charges, including rape and coercive and controlling behaviour. Prosecutors allege that between 2022 and 2024 Gallagher raped a woman and committed three sexual assaults, three acts of intentional strangulation, two threats to kill and one assault causing actual bodily harm. Gallagher spoke only to confirm his identity; his lawyer has said he will plead not guilty. The court granted Gallagher conditional bail ahead of a further hearing scheduled for 24 September. The proceedings coincide with Oasis’s ongoing reunion tour, their first since the band split in 2009. Paul Gallagher has never been a member of the group.
