The UK government has approved funding for a major TV and film studio complex in Sunderland, as part of a devolution package for the North East of England. The project, known as Crown Works Studios, will provide significant job opportunities and aims to make the region a global destination for film and TV production. The funding includes £10 million for the expansion of the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, supporting growth in training opportunities and apprenticeships.

Delighted about this. 8,450 great, creative and technical jobs for local people and the chance for the North East to be a global destination for film and tv and to lead the uk screen industry. I’m so proud of the way the whole region rallied behind @Fulwell73, to shout about all… https://t.co/ILLnnysOEm
