A UK-registered matchmaking platform, NikkahGram, is facing widespread condemnation after marketing “shy, untouched virgin brides” and encouraging polygamous marriages for Muslim men. The site, launched in 2023, offers free membership to women who attest to being virgins and advises male users not to register Islamic marriages in Western jurisdictions where polygamy is illegal. Social-media videos linked to NikkahGram instruct men to administer a “light” beating to wives who remain “disobedient” after verbal warnings and bed separation. Among the site’s advisers is former medical doctor Asif Munaf, who was struck off the register for anti-Semitic remarks and now sells “marriage coaching” to clients. Politicians and campaigners have urged authorities to intervene. Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick called the platform “vile” and said it “promotes domestic abuse.” Former Labour minister Bill Rammell labelled the service “humiliating and disgraceful,” while Baroness Shaista Gohir of the Muslim Women’s Network UK warned that its “extreme ideology” targets vulnerable women and insecure men. NikkahGram says it “operates strictly within UK law and Islamic principles” and that participation is voluntary. Domestic-violence charities, however, argue the content may breach legislation against inciting abuse, and several MPs have asked the Home Office and Ofcom to examine whether the site should be shut down.
‘Since the London 7/7 bombings, Islamist terrorists have killed 95 people in Britain. The far right has killed three. You wouldn’t get that impression reading the newspapers’ Tom Slater on Islamist terror: https://t.co/dB2QB0lLnh
So no condemnation of a religiously motivated murder of 52 people @RoyalFamily? Islamists ☪️ have been responsible for 97% of all terrorist murders since 2000. https://t.co/ksZ2w1jdBL
When you talk "of those that seek to spread division," in the light of 97% of terrorist murders have been committed by Islamists ☪️ as are 90% of suspects on MI5''s watch list, I assume you are referring to them? https://t.co/G1WA1G01rW
