Starbucks has reduced output at its U.S. coffee roasting and packaging facilities, moving from a seven-day to a five-day production schedule. The company said the change, which effectively cuts two days of weekly production, is intended to lower operating expenses amid broader efforts to streamline its domestic supply chain. The adjustment follows other cost-saving measures, including the closure of café locations that lack drive-through service such as a recently shuttered store on Broadway in Denver. Starbucks did not disclose how many of its plants are affected or detail expected savings, but emphasized that the shift is part of a company-wide initiative to rein in spending while maintaining product availability.
