Walmart Expands 10% Employee Discount to Nearly All Grocery Items for 1.6 Million Workers, Effective Immediately
Walmart has expanded its 10% employee discount to cover nearly all grocery items, including dairy, meat, and other food categories, effective immediately. Previously, the discount applied mainly to fresh produce and most general merchandise such as clothing and toys. This move aims to help its 1.6 million employees cope with rising grocery costs amid renewed inflation concerns linked to tariffs. The expanded discount now applies to approximately 95% of regularly priced items both in-store and online. Walmart’s Chief People Officer Donna Morris noted that this benefit was among the most requested by staff and is part of the company’s broader effort to recruit and retain workers. The expanded discount program also includes general merchandise and fashion items, providing broader savings for employees.
