Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested 14 suspects in Montreal connected to a grandparent scam targeting Canadian seniors, primarily those with landline phones. The scam, which has been active since February 2022, has resulted in a total loss of approximately $2.2 million. Investigations revealed that the suspects have ties to Italian organized crime, intensifying concerns about the widespread impact of this fraudulent scheme across Canada.
