Canada’s under-23 women’s team captured the 2025 GLOBL JAM title in Toronto on Sunday, defeating a United States squad represented by the Texas Longhorns 72-65. The Canadians pulled away late behind 11 fourth-quarter points from guard Shayeann Day-Wilson, clinching the program’s first gold medal at the summer showcase event. Forward Avery Howell scored a game-high 24 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc. Howell was later named tournament Most Valuable Player after finishing the week shooting 71 percent from three-point range (20-of-28). Earlier in the day Canada had advanced with a 50-point semifinal win over Puerto Rico, while the men’s national side was relegated to the bronze-medal game after Georgetown secured the other berth in the men’s final.
