A 42-year-old Toronto resident, identified by police as Patrick St. Dennis, faces 13 charges—including two counts of attempted murder—after two people were stabbed aboard a TTC streetcar in the city’s downtown core on Monday morning. Investigators say an argument broke out between St. Dennis and a woman in her 30s, who is known to him, while the westbound 506 Carlton streetcar was near College and Bathurst Streets around 8:25 a.m. A man in his 60s intervened and both passengers were stabbed. Paramedics took the pair to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries; the suspect was arrested nearby shortly afterward. The charge sheet also lists assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, theft under $5,000 and multiple counts of breaching court orders. Police are appealing for witnesses or video of the incident as the investigation continues. Roughly 15 minutes after the streetcar attack, officers responded to an unrelated stabbing in the Downsview area near Wilson Avenue, where one person was hospitalized and a different suspect was taken into custody.
