The Chicago Sky lifted Candace Parker’s No. 3 to the rafters of Wintrust Arena on Monday, honoring the Naperville native at halftime of the club’s home game against the Las Vegas Aces. Parker, who led the Sky to their first WNBA championship in 2021, becomes only the second player in league history to have her number retired by more than one franchise, following the Los Angeles Sparks’ tribute earlier this year. Parker’s jersey joins Allie Quigley’s No. 14 as the only numbers retired by the Sky. The 38-year-old forward is a seven-time All-Star, two-time league MVP and three-time WNBA champion, achievements that team officials said made the decision to enshrine her an easy one. Family members, former teammates and current players, including Aces guard Chelsea Gray, were on hand for the ceremony, which underscored Parker’s impact on both the franchise and the wider league.

The @chicagosky tonight honored the great @Candace_Parker--the pride of Naperville, who brought a championship home to Chicago--by hoisting her # 3 to the rafters at the Wintrust Arena. Her speech was one of the greatest & most moving I've ever heard at one of these events. https://t.co/SaeY4ZCDIp
