Alberto Carlos Mejía Hernández, a Venezuelan hitman linked to the murder of the so-called "Rey de Meiggs" in Chile and a leader of the criminal group Tren de Aragua, was captured in Colombia. Chilean authorities are actively pursuing his extradition, with the judiciary approving the request and the case advancing through the courts. Mejía had fled Chile and was found hiding in Colombia, where he stayed with family members unaware of his criminal status. The Chilean government is coordinating with Colombian President Gustavo Petro's administration to facilitate the extradition process. Meanwhile, investigations into the kidnapping of a businessman in Quilicura have expanded, with the number of suspects reaching ten and authorities probing potential links to foreign criminal organizations. In a separate incident in Curacaví, a man was killed during a robbery after being run over by his own vehicle; the vehicle was later found burned. The victim had been assaulted five days prior. Chilean prosecutors and police continue to address various violent crimes, including the detention of other suspects involved in homicides and robberies. President Gabriel Boric acknowledged the capture of Mejía as a fulfillment of government efforts.
