State-sponsored hackers, suspected to be from China, have infiltrated government networks worldwide by exploiting two zero-day vulnerabilities in Cisco's VPN and firewall Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA) and Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) firewalls. The cyberattacks, ongoing for the past 5 months, were part of a sophisticated campaign targeting Cisco's security devices to gain unauthorized access to sensitive government data. The vulnerabilities allowed the hackers, referred to as 'ArcaneDoor', to bypass Cisco's firewall protections, raising significant concerns about national security and the effectiveness of firewall security against state-sponsored cyber threats.
