China's domestically developed AG600 "Kunlong" amphibious aircraft has officially entered mass production after receiving certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Produced by the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), the AG600 is one of three large homegrown aircraft designed to reduce reliance on foreign aviation technology. The aircraft is capable of carrying up to 12 tonnes of water and has a flight range of 4,500 kilometers. It is designed for multiple roles including firefighting, maritime search and rescue, and emergency response operations. The AG600 has recently completed high-altitude test flights at Huatugou Airport in Qinghai Province, located at an elevation of 2,945 meters, marking a breakthrough in operating in complex meteorological and plateau conditions. China is also exploring the possibility of exporting the AG600 to other countries.
