The global smartphone market experienced a 6.5% year-over-year growth in the second quarter of 2024, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of growth. Samsung led the market, followed by Apple, whose iPhone shipments stabilized. The resurgence of Huawei and consumer demand during China's midyear 618 shopping festival contributed to this growth. Despite the overall increase, a full recovery in demand is yet to come. Preliminary data from IDC indicated that global smartphone shipments reached 285.4 million units in Q2 2024. Xiaomi saw a 27% increase in sales, and Vivo experienced a 22% rise year-over-year.
