Chinese e-commerce group JD.com is in advanced discussions on a takeover of Ceconomy AG, the German owner of the MediaMarkt and Saturn electronics chains, according to people familiar with the matter. JD.com is contemplating an offer of about €4.60 for each Ceconomy share, valuing the Düsseldorf-based retailer at roughly €2.4 billion ($2.6 billion). The Beijing-headquartered company is expected to decide shortly whether to proceed with a formal bid.
