The People's Bank of China (PBOC) has been actively adjusting the central parity rate for the Chinese Yuan (CNY) against the US Dollar (USD) over several days. On September 6, 2024, the PBOC set the USD/CNY reference rate at 7.0925, slightly weaker than market expectations of 7.0927, raising the rate by 64 pips. The following day, the Yuan opened trade at 7.0860 per dollar, compared to the previous close of 7.0888. On September 9, 2024, the PBOC set the reference rate at 7.0989, higher than the estimated 7.0951. By September 10, 2024, the PBOC adjusted the rate to 7.1136, close to the estimated 7.1140, cutting the rate by 147 pips, with the Yuan opening trade at 7.1193 per dollar, slightly weaker than the last close of 7.1142.
